Gymming experience

I joined a gym and had a preliminary workout yesterday. The workout was for the benefit of the trainer so that he could assess my physical condition. I felt a tad tired, but hardly exhausted. He did warn me that the next workout (which was today) would be a lot harder.

I slept rather well last night. Did normal activity today. I did not feel particularly tired. I thought the light workout plus a good night's sleep had helped.

At 3 in the afternoon, I was at the gym, warming up - treadmill at 5 kmph for 5 minutes. After this, my workout commenced.

Pushups were the first on the list. I have never ever been able to do pushups. I had told my trainer this yesterday. He said no problem, do pushups pivoting(?) your body on your knees - that is only your knees and your palms will touch the ground. Yesterday, I was able to do around 20 such pushups.

I thought I could do this today also. So I get into position, and I lower my body when I suddenly feel a terrible ache in my arms. All this while, it had been latent :|

I did 12 with great difficulty. Took a break and had to do another set, but I could not do more than 6 in the second set, even with the trainer's help.

Same story for every other exercise or machine I used. I didn't feel the pain in my muscles until I exercised it.

At the end of 50 minutes, I was beat. Sitting down and typing this, I feel OK. But when I prop myself on my bed, my arms hurt :|
If I lift up my arms, they hurt. I haven't tried stretching my legs, but I suppose when I go to bed, they will also hurt.

Workouts on every alternate day. Thank goodness for that.
